Supporting south Topeka and Shawnee County, within a few minutes of Forbes Golf Course and Kansas Quarter Midget Racing Stadium, the softball complex is home to two softball diamonds, restrooms, and neighbor to Velma K. |  | Velma K. Paris Community Center History Velma K. Paris Community Center was acquired by Shawnee County in the mid-1970s through federal government “Legacy of Parks” legislation. The center was dedicated in the mid-1990s in honor of Velma K. | | Programs The Shawnee South Community Center offers a wide variety of classes for youth, adult and senior population. There is currently a licensed preschool. The center also offers horseback riding, dance & tumbling, craft, cheerleading, foreign language classes and day camps for youth. Our adult classes consist of oil painting, watercolor, various exercise classes, scrap booking, sign language, pottery and quilting.
